This past Saturday, South Lake was fortunate enough to have six athletes compete in the 39thÂ edition of the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. While the Clermont area triathletes representation may not seem like a whole lot to an outsider, it is somewhat amazing considering our neighbors in the much larger Orlando area didnât have half this many.
Our local athletes earned their ticket to this most prestigious triathlon in the World either by a highly competitive qualification system at other Ironman events or by completing 20+ events of this ultra distance.
